Over the last 17 years, the Child Care Association has had offices in the Parklane Center. During those years, the Association has expanded and developed into the organization it is today.

Incorporated in 1958 as the Wichita Child Day Care Association, the organization has taken an active role in promoting quality care for the children of Wichita for 44 years.

In the 1970s, the Child Day Care Association became the grantee for Head Start and began providing comprehensive services for low-income preschoolers throughout Sedgwick County. We also became a sponsor for the Child Care Food Program and continue to help more than 400 child care providers receive reimbursement for meals they serve to children in their care.

In the 1980s, a new name, "Child Care Association of Wichita/Sedgwick County" was adopted to reflect the wide range of services we offer not only to child care providers, but also the children and their familites in the community. CCA moved to Parklane in 1985.

In the 1990s, the Child Care Association began one of the first Early Head Start programs in the nation and began serving children ages 0-3. Our Parklane offices expanded as services and staff continued to grow.

Today the Child Care Association employs 256 child care professionals serving 983 Head Start and Early Head Start children in more than 10 locations throughout the Wichita area. We also offer classes and continuing education for more than 400 members (parents and child care providers). CCA also has a Referral Service that helps parents find quality child care and receives more than 7000 requests per year for this service.

Child Care Association is having a hats and mittens drive to provide warm clothes for the upcoming winter, and would like for merchants and tenants in Parklane, as well as people in the Wichita community, to participate. Contact Sharon at 682-1853 for information on how one can become involved.
