D.C.I.
... just aheadSM
DCI
provides financial data processing, software, technology management
and other related services to nearly 200 community banks throughout
the United States. DCI provides the technology that banks use
to manage their customers' transactions, accounting, checks,
statements, ATMs, teller windows, internet banking, etc. DCI
was one of the first data processing companies in North America,
founded in 1964 by four Kansas banks. DCI employes nearly 300
people and is headquartered in Hutchinson, Kansas, with 12 remote
sites in 9 states, including our site here in Wichita. Remote
sites also include Kansas City, Denver, Springfield, Oklahoma
City, Salina, Baton Rouge, Los Angeles, Dallas, Little Rock,
Montebello (CA), Deming (NM) and Fort Smith (AR).
On
March 8, 2003, the Wichita office relocated to Parklane Shopping
Center after residing for many years in the "old" Kansas State
Bank building downtown. DCI has been very pleased with this change,
as the Parklane space better suits our business needs.
Our
hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. the following day.
We receive work in from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City
each morning and we run the items through our sorters and post to
the appropriate accounts. We also receive items from various banks,
local and Kansas City, each morning thatmust be posted. Around the
lunch hour we meet with other local banks and exchange items ater
we settle the amounts and post those items appropriately.
But
the action really happens at night! We start getting all kinds of
shipments in one by one from all the banks we service in this center.
We process all the night work and prepare all the foreign item cash
letters to be sold to various financial institutions throughout
the United States. Currently, we have about 27 banks that we process.
Our region is from Wichita to central and southeast Kansas. We currently
average about 1.8 million items per month in the Wichita center.
We staff a total of 8 employees; this is a very small portion of
what our company staffs.
We
are in the process of converting to new equipment and new software
that will allow us to expand our capabilities and add a great
enhancement to our customers. We must continue to stay current
with all technology as it changes very rapidly. When it comes
to banking technology, it is DCI... just ahead!
