Doug Ginther, Manager

Payless Optical, now in its 11th year of operation in the Parklane Shopping Center, is a corporate owned store based in Omaha, NE and Brooklyn, NY. The owners have been in the discount optical business for over 25 years. From small beginnings in a tiny shop and office in Brooklyn, NY, through entrepreneurial spirit and hard work, the company has grown to own and/or manage over 135 stores nationwide under several different names including National Optical Warehouse, Factory Eyeglass Outlet, Optimart, Medisave Optical, Payless Optical... and the list goes on and on.

Doug Ginther, manager of Payless Optical for over eight and a half years in the Parklane Shopping Center, came to the Wichita store in July of 1991 as the assistant manager, and quickly adapted to the discount concept. Doug had previously worked in the retail optical business for over 20 years and has enjoyed great success in all facets of the business, from management of wholesale optical laboratories to retail sales including boutique sales of eyewear in excess of $1000. Doug says, "I love the discount idea with this company, which is 'Give the customer good service and a great price, and go home feeling good that no one was overcharged!'" Not much to complain about here!
