Alvin
Demby, Community Policing Officer
My
name is Alvin Demby of the Wichita Police Department. For the
last eight years I have been the Community Policing Officer for
35 Beat which is bound by Kellogg on the north, Harry on the
south, Woodlawn on the east and Oliver on the west.
We
work in three shifts: 1st shift officers are Dave Halverson and
O'dell Thomas; 2nd shift officers are Darlene Zerr and Kornelson;
3rd shift officers are Boone and Woodard. Community Policing
Supervisor is Sgt. Allen Wolf.
We
work out of Patrol East Station where the phone number is 688-9331.
we also have an office in the Parklane Shopping Center located
at 957 S. Glendale and the phone number is 688-9545.
The
Community Police Officer works as a liaison for communication
between public and private agencies along with citizens who live
in the beat area. We assist businesses by starting a Business
Watch, a version of the Neighborhood Watch, in efforts to reduce
crime and opening communication between business owners. We also
work on neighborhood traffic complaints, underage drinking, truancy,
graffiti and health code violations.
Officer
Demby and the 35 Beat Team work closely with other city agencies
such as Central Inspection, Health Department and Animal Control
to better assist citizens and businesses on the beat. Officer
Demby also encourages citizens to help us fight crime and solve
neighborhood problems whether in schools, local businesses or
the neighborhood itself. Don't hesitate to call us any time you
need our help.
